Gnocchi should carry the crown for being an everyday favourite - but for no good reason it doesn't appear high on the regular recipe repertoire. In our drive to make yummy, foodie, creative dishes accesible to all - here is an easy one that is sure to creep onto the "dinner party winner" list this winter!

- WHAT YOU WILL NEED -

  • 500g gnocchi (store bought is fine)
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup bacon bits
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp garlic
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1 ½ cups crushed tomato
  • 1 Tbsp (or more / less depending on taste preference)GHOST CHILLI
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, grated
  • Fresh basil leaves

- METHOD -

Bring a pot of water to the boil with a little salt then pour the gnocchi into the water and cook until the it starts to float (approximately 5 minutes). Strain the gnocchi and set aside. Meanwhile, add olive oil to a pan over a medium heat and fry the bacon slightly before adding the chopped onion to the pan. Sauté - then add the garlic, oregano, crushed tomato and Cape Herb & Spice Ghost Chilli Seasoning to the mixture and cook for at least 5 minutes. Gently stir in the cooked gnocchi and arrange evenly around the pan. Top with both cheeses and place under the grill for 5-10 minutes or until the cheese starts to bubble slightly.

Serve with fragrant fresh basil leaves.
