Purpose:

The maintenance technician needs to oversee the upkeep of Machinery, equipment and facility by performing proactive asset maintenance, reactive maintenance, and emergency maintenance.

Key Functional Areas:

  • Conduct routine maintenance checks of plant, equipment and machinery as per DMS system
  • Attend to breakdowns timeously
  • Electrical and pneumatic problem solving
  • Ensure that workshop and toolbox is clean and tidy at all times
  • Proactively inform Maintenance Manager when stock is running low
  • Obtain and follow up on quotations from suppliers. Accepting deliveries from suppliers
  • Deliver high standards of cleanliness and reliability of production machinery and factory facilities
  • Creating and maintaining documentation on repairs and preventative maintenance procedures
  • Reviewing maintenance strategies in CMMS
  • Perform maintenance related administrative duties as required
  • Co-ordinate external maintenance services by contractors
  • Issuing of permit to work for contractors when requested to do so
  • Ensure contract compliance with company HSE rules and policies
  • Continually work to enable the site to achieve key objectives of safety, quality and service
  • Conduct Health and Safety functions as per company requirements

Required Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Basic knowledge in HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems  
  • Familiar with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations
  • Proficient in appropriate handling of hazmat
  • Proficient with a wide range of repair equipment, including power tools
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Computer literate and proficient with the MS Office suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook)
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25kgs

Required Prior Learning/Experience:

  • Qualified Artisan: Millwright or Fitter
  • Matric or Matric equivalent qualification
  • Technical Experience in:

-Fitting

-Electronics

-Basic Welding (Argon Gas)

-Electrical Wiring  

  • Experience in CMM Systems
