Key Responsibilities:
•    Ensure that the food safety and quality system is implemented, communicated and upheld at the site on a day-to-day basis. 

Job Objectives: 
•    Ensure complaints are answered timeously and thorough investigations are conducted.
•    Ensure non-conformances are investigated, controlled and communicated timeously
•    Supervise the QC’s at the Gifting site, offering sound advice
•    Support the team in achieving objectives to implement BRC at the site & pass all audits.
•    Provide technical support to the factory & report on any cases of non-compliance to procedures & assist in their correction.

Key Functional Areas:
•    Technical and factory support
•    Quality controllers at gifting will report into this position
•    Support the QCs at gifting and ensure that the incoming testing process is followed correctly
•    Evaluate COA’s against the specifications in place
•    Verify quality control records daily
•    Release incoming materials from the inspection system
•    From time to time this will include supervision of cleaning teams at gifting & assist the QA Systems Lead with the activities of the Hygiene Officer
•    From time to time this will include assisting the QA Systems Lead with the activities of the Pest Control Officer at Gifting
•    From time to time this will include assisting the QA Systems Lead with the activities of the Allergen Officer at Gifting
•    Conducting internal audits
•    Day-to-day technical problem solving and support
•    Member of the HACCP Team & assist the QA systems lead with co-ordinating the requirements of the HACCP Team
•    Investigating and managing non-conformances and corrective actions.
•    Reviewing and evaluating freezer loggers 
•    Conduct regular factory inspections & report results
•    Conducting Training. 
•    Ensuring that audit corrective action is closed out
•    Updating procedures and documents
•    Providing customer support e.g. through compiling COA’s / COC’s.
•    New Supplier approvals & on-going supplier approvals assist the QA systems lead with this requirement on gifting and grocery items 
•    Responsible for Swabbing and testing of equipment & facilities (Environmental Testing Program) & ensuring schedule is adhered to
•    Ensure that the set testing schedules on work in process and final products is adered to and carried out
•    Interpret test results & Report results of tests within the organization
•    conducting complaint investigations
•    Develop and set quality standards for the factory
•    Conducting internal audits
•    Ensuring measuring and monitoring devices (scales / loggers etc) are calibrated and ensure that these are serviced and repaired as needed
•    Conducting & Supporting traceability studies, mass balances and mock recalls are conducted and implemented as per schedule
•    Initiating and implementing corrective action procedures where failures in process / test results occur
•    Ensure end of life testing on final product is performed according to schedule

Required Knowledge & Skills: 
•    Able to perform/partake regular tasting of products produced  
•    Sound knowledge of legislation
•    Good research skills 

Required Prior Learning/ Experience
•    B.Tech Food Technology/ B. Sc Food Science or other relevant science related degree. Copies of qualifications must be submitted with a CV
•    Minimum 1 - 2 years + industry experience 
•    Candidates with higher qualifications with less experience would be considered.
•    Prior training in internal auditing or HACCP is an advantage
•    Proficient in working in Microsoft programs (outlook, excel, word)
•    Own reliable transport
