ASIAN PORK TACO

Love tacos? Then take your next taco dinner international! Ditch the traditional Mexican flavours and experiment with the Orient instead. These pork tacos with Cape Herb & Spice Chinese 5 Spice, hoisin and sweet chilli sauce really hit the spot.

- WHAT YOU WILL NEED -

  • small pork steak (150g)
  • salt
  • small handful of sliced red and yellow peppers
  • whites of 3 spring onions, sliced (preserve the greens)
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Cape Herb & Spice CHINESE 5-SPICE
  • 1 Tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 Tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce
  • FOR SERVING
  • soft flour tortilla
  • red and green cabbage, finely sliced
  • apple, finely sliced
  • coriander
  • green part of spring onions, finely sliced
  • toasted cashews (optional)

- METHOD -

Lightly salt the pork strips. Fry the pork, spring onions and peppers in a splash of vegetable oil until just cooked through. Add Cape Herb & Spice Chinese 5-Spice, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, hoisin and sweet chilli sauce and fry over low heat for another minute or two. Serve pork with fillings wrapped in a warm tortilla and enjoy this fantastic dish.
