Cape Herb & Spice is looking for a creative packaging designer to join our NPD team! A multi-talented designer that can create packaging solutions and beautiful artwork to create on-shelf magnificence.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualise new packaging solutions for spice, tea and gifting lines
  • Offer new ideas and concepts clearly and effectively
  • Creating top quality mock ups and renders
  • Product photography and deep etching for presentations
  • Design of all packaging and labeling on dielines
  • Provide packaging suppliers and printers with accurate specs in order to get quotes, working to a budget.
  • DTP
  • Keep record of artwork changes and file print proofs
  • Ensure that all relevant people in the company are informed when there is a change to existing artwork or when new artwork will be coming in
  • Creating print ready files to send to printers
  • Manage print related tasks (ensuring colour standards are met and upheld, signing off of proofs and attending a print pass if necessary)
  • Organise and file all correspondence with regards to artwork

Requirements 

  • Degree or diploma in Graphic Design. Preferably from AAA, Vega or Red and Yellow.
  • Specialisation or focus on packaging design.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Artistic flair and an eye for design
  • Strong interest in design and packaging trends
  • An affinity for flourishing under pressure, last minute demands and cryptic briefs
  • Reliable & Flexible - maintains effectiveness in fast moving and/changing environment and with varying task and responsibilities
  • Great problem solving skills
  • Strong technical knowledge base essential
  • A good understanding of the print and production process
  • Strong computer skills in Mac using Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  • Understanding of packaging dielines and being able to envision flat artwork in 3D form
  • Ability to adjust dielines (advantageous)
